Making a lasting impact for women in the military and Veteran community

In honour of International Women’s Day (March 8, 2021) – a time to celebrate the achievements of women, raise awareness about gender bias and find ways to create equality, we are proud to highlight the achievements of women leaders year-round who are making a life-changing impact in the military and Veteran community.

The Captain Nichola Goddard Fund

True Patriot Love understands the pivotal role women play in the military.

In operations, servicewomen have access to populations and spaces that are closed to men, and the strength of women’s influence in the peace process is positively correlated to agreements being reached and implemented. According to the International Peace Institute, when women participate in the peace process the resulting agreement is thirty-five percent more likely to last 15 years.

Through the Captain Nichola Goddard Fund, we provide grants to programs that support servicewomen, Veteran women and their families. Founded by the Goddard family and managed on the family’s behalf by True Patriot Love since 2018, the fund is in honour of Capt. Nichola Goddard, who at the age of 26 became the first Canadian woman soldier to die in a combat role.

“We started the Captain Goddard Fund to celebrate and serve strong women like Nichola who have the courage to protect the values integral to Canada and stand on guard for those less fortunate around the world.” Kate Rusk, Nichola Goddard’s sister.

This International Women’s Day, help us make a positive difference in the lives of servicewomen, Veteran women and their families by donating today. All donations to the Captain Nichola Goddard Fund in March 2021 will be matched up to $7,000.
