True Patriot Love Expedition: Island Peak, Himalayas 2012
Conquering Island Peak, Himalayas
In 2012, reserve and retired Canadian Armed Forces personnel and Canadian business leaders trekked 20,305 ft. to conquer the high Island Peak in the Himalayas, a mere 10 kilometres away from Everest. The first True Patriot Love expedition raised $433,000 in support of service men and women across Canada.
The funds raised were disbursed to the Military Families Fund (MFF) to assist Veterans and their families with their rehabilitation and enhance their independence. These funds provided four homes and three vehicle modifications for Veterans with physical injuries.
“I have learned more from our Veterans on these expeditions about bravery, patriotism, service and a commitment to leaving no one behind than from any activity I have undertaken. Our Vets are truly inspirational.”
