Today, on International Women’s Day, we want to highlight some of our program partners who, thanks to your support, are changing the lives of women Veterans, servicewomen and their families.

More women Veterans and servicewomen are getting access to mental health supports
Thanks to you, we provided funding to the Mental Health Foundation of Nova Scotia and Landing Strong’s Women’s Mental Health Support Project to increase the availability of mental health services and therapy resources to female Veterans and servicewomen who have operational stress injuries and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

We partnered with Amelia Rising in Ontario, which supports women military members who have experienced sexual misconduct to work through common symptoms of trauma like relationship challenges, hypervigilance, and post-traumatic stress, through an equine therapy program.

True Patriot Love funded Writers Collective Canada so they could launch their first virtual workshop series for Canadian women who have served in the military. This project, A Force for Women: Her Story, trained two Veteran women as facilitators, and hosted 11 workshops.

Our funding supported Team Rubicon’s women’s chainsaw and mental health initiative in Alberta: a four-day mentorship program empowering participants from Alberta, Ontario, Quebec, Nova Scotia and Newfoundland and Labrador to learn or build their skillset in chainsaw operations and learn the tools of mental health first aid.

Support from donors like you is also vital for the Women Warriors Healing Garden in Ontario, where women Veterans and women in uniform create new support networks, learn how to manage stressors and heal.

Finding and funding research focused on the unique needs of military women
True Patriot Love has been funding Veteran health research projects for over a decade, thanks to your commitment.

One of our goals is to find and fund more research that studies the experiences of military women at all stages of their lives and careers. It’s a vital addition to our list of research priorities – and we thank you for being on the journey with us.

Supporting programs across Canada for the whole family
“When one person wears the uniform, the whole family serves” is a saying we take to heart. With your support, True Patriot Love helped provide grants so kids can enjoy summer camps and youth programming in Ontario, Alberta, BC, Quebec, PEI and New Brunswick.

Strengthening the programs at local Military Family Resource Centres (MFRCs) across Canada is a long-term priority for us. This year, we provided funds for the Central Saskatchewan MFRC to host a workshop for military families, with sessions on yoga and managing emotions. We also supported the Mainland BC MFRC so they could offer a retreat for mothers of fallen soldiers.

Your support means the world to women Veterans, servicewomen and their families
They made a commitment to defence of our country, peacekeeping, and disaster relief, at times facing down opposition to do it. They sacrificed and they persevered.

Thank you for standing strong with women in the Canadian Armed Forces, today and every day.
