True Patriot Love Expedition: Orizaba 2019 - Application for Participation
For Canadian Soldiers and Veterans
We are actively seeking Veterans and currently serving members of the Canadian Armed Forces from across the country who have sustained an injury or illness as a result of their military service to apply for this adventure. This expedition offers participants an opportunity to receive guidance and assistance during their recovery and transition to civilian life.
General Information
Eligibility: Applicants must be currently serving or former members of the Canadian Armed Forces who have sustained an injury or illness as a result of their military service.
Note: Currently serving applicants are responsible for obtaining permission for personal leave.
Availability: Applicants must be available the following dates (no exceptions. Transportation provided):
-
Training camp in Whistler, British Columbia: September 27 – 30, 2018
-
Expedition in Mexico: February 23 – March 3, 2019
Cost: All expenses related to the expedition will be covered by fundraising initiatives led by the expedition participants and the True Patriot Love Foundation.
Fundraising: True Patriot Love requires soldier applicants to participate in fundraising initiatives to the best of their ability.
Medical Requirements: This is a physically demanding experience. Participants must pass advanced fitness testing in order to participate. An individual’s ability to participate is based on their fitness at the time of the expedition. For the safety of all participants, as well as the expedition team, the team doctor has the ability to restrict an individual’s participation on the expedition if they are not physically fit to participate. Applicants must receive medical approval in advance of the expedition training camp and sign a waiver prior to participation. We are dedicated to accommodating physical injuries where it is safe to do so, which will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Mentorship Program: Military participants will take part in a mentorship program with Canadian business leaders who are also participating in the expedition. This will include a personality assessment and development coaching, intended to assist you in achieving your personal goals.
Media: From time to time, media outlets may request interviews or photos from select participants.
