Phil Badanai

In 1994, Phil Badanai at the age of 21, was deployed on a United Nations peacekeeping mission in Croatia. At that time, Croatia was one of the world’s hottest battle zones. On December 31, 1994, Phil and his partner got ambushed by 25 Serbian soldiers.

Mike Briggs

Mike Briggs enrolled in the Canadian Armed Forces in May 1986 at 18 years of age. In 1988, while training for Combat Engineer Training Officer Phase 2 at CFB Chilliwack, Mike would survive the worst training accident in Canadian Forces School of Military Engineering history.

Vanessa Larter

Captain Vanessa Larter, from PEI, enrolled in the CAF as a Medical Technician in 2002. A highly-skilled combat medic, she served two tours of duty in Kandahar, Afghanistan in 2006 and 2008 with the 2nd Battalion Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry (PPCLI).

Daniel Marsh

Daniel served in the Canadian Armed Forces from 2005 to 2016 with the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry in Shilo, Manitoba. Daniel was deployed on a combat tour to Afghanistan in 2008 and later served in the Canadian Joint Incident Response Unit.

Rob Martin

Rob is a retired soldier with 34 years of Canadian Army service. He lives with his wife Dale on the beautiful Clyde River in the Lanark Highlands, west of Ottawa. He was medically released from the Canadian Forces in 2010 following two tours in Afghanistan.

Jurgen Rudolph

Jurgen served four years in the Canadian Armed Forces, all in the storied 2nd battalion, Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry. Most of Jurgen’s four years was spent deployed overseas. The last two years of his service were spent in Reconnaissance (Recce) Platoon.

Jeff Virgo

Jeff decided to join the Canadian Armed Forces right out of high school. While serving as a Private in the 3rd Battalion Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry as a Long Range Patrol at an Armed Forces base in Alberta in 2004, his group travelled to Wainwright, Alberta for a training exercise. The MLVW truck he was a passenger in was involved in a motor vehicle accident.
