Scotiabank True Patriot Love Expedition North Pole Expedition 2014
April 18 – May 2, 2014

Join True Patriot Love on the ultimate Canadian adventure as we unite ill and injured soldiers with business leaders to ski to the Magnetic North Pole in order to raise awareness for the needs of Canada’s military and their families.

DATES: This epic journey departs from Ottawa to Resolute Bay on April 18, 2014 and returns May 2, 2014. Upon arriving in Resolute, we will spend three days acclimatizing and testing gear. Then, Twin Otters will carry the team to 100 kilometres from the Magnetic North Pole – or, the Last Degree.

N.B: There will be a five-day ski training camping trip in Gatineau, Q.C. in January 2014.

CALL FOR SOLDIER TEAM APPLICATIONS: Please apply by filling the application form here. French version available here.

CHAIRS: The Expedition Co-Chairs are Shaun Francis, True Patriot Love Foundation and the Medcan Clinic, Tim Hodgson, Alignvest, and Paul Desmarais, Great-West Life.

TEAM: This year’s team will pair twelve soldiers, injured on duty, with twelve Canadian business leaders. The team will ski together for ten days through freezing and inhospitable conditions as they overcome their past injuries and bond together as a team.

Ben Webster, of Canadian Adventure Productions and TPL 2012 Expedition leader, joins the team again to film every moment for profile on a major Canadian network. Richard Weber joins us as Expedition leader for this year’s trip; Richard is the first person to reach the North Pole on an unsupported expedition, and he was leader of the first ever commercial Expedition to the North Pole. The team will further be supported by accomplished polar guides Conrad Dickinson and Inge Solheim, and motivational speaker and guide Scott Kress.
