Annual Educational Trip – Vimy 2017
The year 2017 not only marked Canada’s 150th birthday, but also the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Vimy Ridge – an important event in our country’s military history. In 1917, Canadian troops were victorious in this famed battle, which was a critical triumph in the eventual success of WWI, and a defining moment for the Canadian military.
From June 24 to 29, 2017, True Patriot Love travelled to the battle sites and memorials of WWI and WWII in northern France to pay tribute to the fallen who have sacrificed so much. Individuals who have made this trip in the past often refer to it as a ‘pilgrimage’ because it’s a journey of special significance for Canadians. Dr. Terry Copp, renowned military historian at Wilfrid Laurier University, and special guest General (ret.) Rick Hillier, former Chief of Defence staff for the Canadian Armed Forces, guided guests through the defining moments for our nation.
